SBICAPS offers the entire gamut of investment banking and advisory services in the Power sector including debt syndication, restructuring, and business as well as financial advisory services. We are the only investment bank/non-lending institution to be co-opted as a member of the Inter-Institutional Group, constituted by the Ministry of Power, for advising on the broad policy issues and financing aspects for the power sector. SBICAPS is actively engaged in providing financing and advisory services for renewable energy capacity in the country, including arranging alternative funding.   

Landmark transactions concluded by SBICAPS in this space include:

  • Debt syndication services for Ultra-Mega Power Plants (Coastal Gujarat Power Limited, Sasan Power Limited) aggregating debt of INR  32000 crore.
  • Buy-side advisory services to NTPC Limited for the acquisition of GoI’s stake in THDC India Limited and NEEPCO, the aggregating transaction value of INR 11500 crore.
  • Sell-side advisory services to lenders in the successful resolution of power assets (Rattan India Power Limited, Prayagraj Power Generation Company Limited, Jindal India Thermal Power Limited) aggregating to INR 12500 crore.

We have also provided advisory services for the privatization of Delhi Vidyut Board (first transaction of privatization of a power utility); and been advisors to the committees appointed by the Central Electricity Regulatory Commission/state regulators for the compensatory tariff of imported coal-based power projects.
